"If Alex Gray could find his balls with both hands he would probably make something close to Wolfe's marker magic." - Secret Still
"If there was a better X-mas gift for a Ween fan then I don't know what it is. This book is awesome." - Dean Ween on The Ween Coloring Book
"What happens when an artist with a penchant for drugged-out, bad-trip paintings attends one too many Ween concerts? She develops the notion of the Ween coloring book. After super-fanning it up and following the band on its La Cucaracha tour for one too many cities, Seattle artist Thea Wolfe had the, uh, pipe dream of immortalizing Dean and Gene in a coloring book. It was more than a bad chemical reaction, and, after putting pen to paper, Wolfe actually achieved something that's even weirder than Ween's music. The $20 coloring book walks you through the altered states of Ween fandom with 21 illustrations, including Ween members gleefully yanking their own viscera out onto a plate, or disguised as centaurs inexplicably cavorting in a field littered in castoff bras, or as majestic rock deities in quasi-Eastern metaphysical settings. Huffable markers sold separately." - The A.V. Club
"That chick sucks. I would never buy this shit." - Mucasplug
"Artists who work primarily in marker will always have my dumbfounded admiration. How they keep the colors from bleeding and smearing all over the place will forever remain a mystery to me. One such magician is Thea Wolfe, whose work is an irresistible blend of fantasy, psychology, and rock n' roll. Her technique is impeccable, and her pictures are hallucinogenic and totally honest." -Phantasmaphile
"Simply stated, Wolfe is an artist that embraces life in its complete beauty. She seems to radiate passion and a zest for living, and whether it be in the form of art, music, food, or events, Wolfe lives to create and creates to live. Switching between intricately and surrealistically illustrated pieces colored with marker and realistic, colorful portrayals of musicians, Wolfe is a talented individual with mastery over numerous artforms." - Redefine Magazine

In all honesty, I was a bit leery about the validity of the work. I knew that it was probably either going to be amazing or fucking terrible. For me, it's hard to find any gray area with that sort of subject matter. I was sent a couple of iphone photo images and quickly realized that the artist was no joke; the paintings were, in fact, much more than I could have ever expected. Click here for full article →

"the sinful art of thea wolfe"
by Chuck Foster.
When I receive an e-mail about a new artist to cover, my heart begins to beat a bit more rapid feuled by anticipation. It's like getting a quick buzz from the realm of whip-its. Sometimes the high is short lived as not all artist are designed to be on the cover of The Sinner. Sometimes, though... Click here for full article →
